Who has been an inspiration for you as a community manager?
The team at Valve is my gold standard. Never have I seen or been a part of a better community. Every customer is taken care of and treated with respect. Every employee focuses on adding value for their customers. And every person who is a part of that community focuses on and loves the games that are at the center of everything. It’s really an amazing community.
What is the most important part of being a community manager?
Patience. Building relationships is, by it’s very nature, a slow process. It’s easy to fall in the trap of wanting everything to happen overnight and becoming disappointed when it dosen’t. Patience is what it really takes to build a community.
If you could attend one conference to learn about community management, what would it be and why?
PAX. Those fans are super intense, I’d love to talk to them to really dig into why.
What do you like best about being a community manager?
What skill should every community manager have?
The ability to make people laugh. CM’s talk to people of all shapes, sizes and walks of life.
