CA Technologies User Communities
Who has been an inspiration for you as a community manager?
Chris Hackett, one of my fellow community managers at CA.
If you could attend one conference to learn about community management, what would it be and why?
SXSWi. The conference is packed full of tracts that talk about social, innovation, community management, mobile and the web. It is very inspiring to hear the speakers and to get ideas from what others are doing.
What do you like best about being a community manager?
My favorite part of being a community manager is guiding the communities I manage to socially solve each other’s problems. We have a lot of technical information being shared among our community members. It is satisfying to see every chipping in to help each other.
Tell us about a success story you’ve had as a community manager.
In one of my product communities we had a new release of software that did not have the a feature that many of our members wanted. A heated discussion started on the message boards about it. I quickly notified the product managers for the product and encouraged them to post a response to the member concerns. The product team quickly responded and immediately the community calmed down.
