Who has been an inspiration for you as a community manager?
My inspiration would be Julia Rosien for many reasons. Before joining GoGirlfriend, I was always being inspired by the way she communicated over Twitter and Facebook. You always feel like she is having a conversation with YOU! That is definitely a gift and takes time to learn. She has shown me how to communicate with our followers in a way that is engaging and personal.
What do you like best about being a community manager?
I love how many people I have been able to connect with and share travel tips and advice to. I have had many opportunities to engage with others who have an abundant amount of information and experience to share that compliments what we are doing at GoGirlfriend. I also love hearing from those who follow us on how helpful a tip might have been or wanting to share an experience they had.
What advice would you give someone wanting to become a community manager?
My advice would be to be confident and be yourself. It can be a little awkward at first but to remember that you can add your voice and flare to the points you are wanting to get across as well. This helps those reading your posts be able to connect with you personally. Readers don’t want an automatic response, they want to know someone is actually there on the other end. Starting to do all of these on your own twitter and facebook will help lay a foundation for you to become a community manager for an organization/business.
