Identifying, nurturing, motivating and supporting this community within a community is a critical piece of the community management puzzle. In this panel we’ll explore tips, tricks and proven methods for cultivating and inspiring your community’s leaders.

Once upon an external community manager who focused on building fan and customer communities, in 2012 Jakkii turned her attention to building internal employee communities. A passionate believer in the new work order and the future of work, Jakkii spends her days helping organisations and their employees figure out how they can use communities effectively inside their organisation to achieve better business outcomes and, to borrow a quote, “make work suck less.”
Lead Community Manager at Petrogyph
Mathew “Berek” Anderson is currently the lead community manager at Petrogyph game studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. Petroglyph was formed in 2003 from Westwood Studios developers that created the Command & Conquer franchise. For the past five years Mathew has led Petroglyph’s community program from the ground up, as well as managed the marketing, website, and support teams. He also recently wrote a book that explores the asian game industry during his time teaching English in Shenzhen, China.
Social Media Manager/Founder at Transcending Social Media
After working overseas for a number of hi-tech startups Raffe returned to Australia to open Transcending Social Media, a social media marketing agency specialising in customer engagement. His first book on social media and revolutions will be published early in 2014. He also likes pie. Lots of pie.

Linda is AMP’s Online Community Manager for the intranet and collaboration. She has been an integral part of the team that brought social to the desktop of every employee and feels strongly about making work better by cultivating the use of new age business tools. Linda is a keen swimmer, quite a good cook and a mad fan of zombies.
Program Manager, Developer Relations at Google
Since 2003, Van Riper has been building developer communities. He is a serial community organizer: Java User Groups, Google Developer Groups, Community Leadership Summits, etc. Since 2010, Van has been working at Google as a meta-community manager with the organizers of the 350+ Google Developer Groups in 99 countries to date.
Community Manager, Global at HootSuite
Stephanie Wiriahardja is HootSuite’s Global Ambassador Lead. Though originally a Design student, Stephanie found her true calling is in building communities and developing programs to empower others. Recently, Stephanie gave a TEDTalk on personal branding, was awarded Top 24 Under 24 in Vancouver, and won the audience choice for The Social Media Awards Must Follow (on Twitter) 2013.
