When people come together, they can accomplish more than any individual. It’s not about you, and it’s certainly not about me. It’s about “WE”. This was a message I delivered at Community Manager UNconference in Chicago last weekend. As a community manager, we face this often. Our brand wants us to deliver their message, community members want what is important to them. But what happens when we start using “we”? We started to find out on Saturday as we decided to pool our collective knowledge, power and contacts together and help make a noticeable difference in the fight to end childhood hunger in the United States, by supporting No Kid Hungry. This week, on Community Manager Hangout #cmgrhangout, we invite you to join us and discuss what exactly “we” looks like, how it can change the way we look at working with our communities and how does it balance with our personal lives. We will host a LIVE Google Hangout at 2pm EST NY-USA (find your local time here http://ht.ly/jjG3U) on Friday, June 28, and you are invited!
Here’s what will be talking about:
Q1) Why is it so important to think in the term of “WE” instead of “You” or “Me”?
Q2) What barriers exist to create a true sense of “WE”?
Q3) How do you measure progress of “WE” compared to individual efforts?
Q4) What are some examples of companies who have used “WE” successfully?
Q5) What is a step you can make towards creating a culture of “WE” in your community?
Join us this week as Jonathan Brewer and Tim McDonald will be Hosting the Hangout, and brandie mccallum and Sherrie Rohde will being moderating the Twitter chat #cmgrhangout Don’t forget to confirm you are attending and be on the lookout for a G+ notification about 1:55pm is you want to join the hangout.
